Evaluation and demonstration of leguminous shrubs hedgerows intercropping with maize crop

Smallholder farmers influenced from the challenges of production constraints to afford farm family with surplus food. To improve this problem present study was designed evaluate legume shrubs hedgerow intercropping maize. In study, growth performance Sesbania sesban and Cajanus cajan evaluated determine their potential in intercropping. The result revealed that performs better than terms biomass provision successive pruning, mean height, branching, diameter at breast height root collar diameter. Biomass produced significantly higher cajan, plays great role soil nutrient improvement maize yield also increased. There an increasing trend properties organic C, total N, treatments especially initial control soils. Maize grain under plot fertilizer control. This should be intensively demonstrated sustain agricultural as farming through integration easily adapting, less competing companion crop, deep rooted fast growing tree/shrub species. Further research is important areas determining decomposing rate different parts, pruned species identified.
